The emphasis is on support for olefins and surfactants through operations at the Brunsbüttel production facility. The Ziegler process is applied to produce alcohols and alumina. Research is directed at:

• Development of new product and processes to add value to the existing alcohol portfolio
• Development of new applications for existing and new alcohols or derivatives thereof
• Development of novel alumina derived products for application in various industries
• Assistance in the improvement of new and existing processes

Customer support and application research are integral to R&D and play an important role in the development of applications in many areas such as lubricants, plasticisers, coating material, catalyst carriers for refineries, emission control, absorption and chemical reactions.
