Sasol Intends to Retain and
Restructure its O&S Business
Sasol today announced that it will retain its Olefins & Surfactants (O&S) business and has terminated the planned
divestiture process of the business. The company has identified restructuring and other opportunities to improve
business performance. It intends, after consultation with stakeholders, to implement these over the next three to
five years after which the options for the O&S business will be reconsidered. Sasol believes that it is not in
shareholders' interests to pursue the divestiture at this stage.

Olefins & Surfactants announces price increase
In response to increased raw material, energy and utility costs Sasol
Olefins & Surfactants (O&S) is raising its prices for its
ethylene oxide, ethoxylate-, polyethyleneglykol- (technical and medical grade)
and ethanolamine-product range in Europe by 100 to 150 €/mt. The increase will
be effective immediately, or as existing contracts permit.

Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) plant in Marl, Germany
Over the next year, Sasol Olefins and Surfactants (O&S)
will make investments to modernize its Linear
Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) plant in Marl, Germany.
The project will involve the replacement of in-house
sulfonation technology with state-of-the art falling-film
sulfonation technology provided by Ballestra of Italy.

Sasol considering the disposal of its Olefins and
Surfactants (O&S) business excluding its co-monomers
activities in South Africa.
Sasol announced today that it is
considering the disposal of its Olefins and Surfactants
(O&S) business excluding its co-monomers activities in
South Africa. Sasol acquired Condea in March 2001
from German-based RWE Dea for
€1,3 billion.
Most of this business was subsequently hosted in Sasol
O&S with production facilities mainly in the USA, Europe
and South Africa. A smaller part of the business
was hosted in Sasol Solvents which, together with the
South African-based solvents activities, forms a global
solvents business. The entire solvents business is
being retained by Sasol.

market: First step towards a cooperation with a
leading petrochemicals producer
On the 11th of May 2005 "Nizhnekamskneftekhim" INC of the
Russian Federation and "Sasol Olefins & Surfactants GmbH"
company signed a Letter of Intent to conduct feasibility
studies for possible future cooperation between the two
companies.

intention to construct a fatty alcohols plant in China.

Ziegler Alcohols by up to 50,000 metric tons per year
Over the next four years, Sasol Olefins &
surfactants plans to invest up to
€ 70 million to
expand its chemicals plant in Brunsbuttel, Germany.
Within the scope of the investment project, Sasol will
upgrade and execute debottlenecking projects to increase
the production output of Ziegler Alcohols.
